Thailand offers Japanese golfers a rare combination: a short flight, green fees far below Japanese domestic rates, and a peak season running November to February. The single biggest saving on this route, though, comes before you reach the course — it is which Tokyo airport you fly from.

Two things worth noting. Narita's April peak is Golden Week, not Thai seasonality — the courses are quiet and reasonably priced that month, it is the flights that are not. And September to November is the value window: fares near their annual low, and Thai golf conditions improving week by week.
Bangkok has the deepest concentration of clubs accustomed to Japanese visitors, with Japanese-language service common. Thai Country Club and Alpine are the prestige rounds, while Summit Windmill sits minutes from Suvarnabhumi for arrival or departure day.
Kanchanaburi is worth knowing about: Artitaya Golf and Resort — formerly Nichigo Golf Resort, and designed by Mitsuaki Kobayashi — offers 27 holes in the River Kwai valley, with a Japanese heritage that shows in the service.
Pattaya remains the best choice for volume golf, with more courses close together than anywhere else in the country.

April is the most expensive month from Narita because of Golden Week, and December peaks from both Tokyo airports. Neither has anything to do with Thai weather — September to November offers low fares and good conditions.

Citizens of Japan get a visa exemption on arrival for 30 days, which covers almost every golf trip. You need a passport valid for six months and, in principle, proof of onward travel — airlines check this more often than Thai immigration does.
Staying longer? The exemption can usually be extended once by 30 days at a local immigration office for ฿1,900. For a full winter, the 60-day tourist visa applied for before you travel, then extended, is the cleaner route. Rules change — check the Thai embassy site for your country before booking.
