Pick how you want to compare — by prestige, price, length or trip type — and we'll line up the matching courses. Add any of them to your shortlist to share with your group.
By the sea: Hua Hin, Phuket, Pattaya, Koh Samui and Khao Lak put you on a beach in the afternoon after a morning round — Koh Samui's Santiburi Samui CC has Gulf views from nearly every hole.
City-based: Bangkok offers the deepest bench of premium courses (and the best chance of a last-minute tee time), while Chiang Mai pairs mountain golf with old-city culture. Escapes: Khao Yai and Kanchanaburi trade convenience for scenery and cool air.
Broad patterns, not rules — but useful when choosing an atmosphere. Scandinavians have made Hua Hin a second home (Black Mountain Golf Club was Swedish-founded). British and Australian golf societies dominate Pattaya's tee sheets. Japanese, Korean and Singaporean golfers favour Bangkok's manicured members' clubs like Thai Country Club and Navatanee Golf Course. Phuket draws the broadest international holiday mix. If you want a quieter, more local feel, head for Isaan or Chiang Rai.
Hua Hin for quality-per-baht and a relaxed seaside town; Pattaya for the widest choice within 30 minutes; Phuket for combining golf with a beach holiday. Bangkok has the most prestigious courses but more traffic between them.
Happy City Golf in Chiang Rai at 9,500 yards from the back tees.
Siam Country Club (Honda LPGA Thailand), Thai Country Club and Alpine Golf Club (both won by Tiger Woods in tour events), Blue Canyon (Johnnie Walker Classic), Black Mountain and Burapha (Asian Tour), Amata Spring (Royal Trophy), and Navatanee (1975 World Cup).
Hua Hin has a strong Scandinavian and British following (Black Mountain was Swedish-founded), Pattaya is the traditional favourite of British and Australian golf societies, Bangkok's premium courses attract Japanese, Korean and Singaporean members and visitors, and Phuket's resort courses draw a broad international holiday crowd including Chinese and Australian golfers.
Resort-integrated courses work best: Laguna Phuket (pool, beach and spa on site), Kirimaya at Khao Yai (boutique resort by the national park), Banyan in Hua Hin, and Pattana Sports Resort near Pattaya all have plenty for non-players.
