Green fees, caddie fees and cart fees are averaged from the published visitor rates we hold for 55 Thai courses — the same data behind our Green Fee Index. Budget and premium tiers use the lower and upper quartiles within each region rather than the extremes, so they reflect a realistic cheap or smart choice rather than an outlier.
How this compares with a package. As a sense-check, Golfasian's published green-season offers for 2026 include four days in Bangkok with three rounds at a four-star hotel from ฿23,200 per golfer twin-share, and eight days in Hua Hin with four rounds from ฿27,000. Australian operators price comparable trips around A$1,400–2,250 land-only. If your calculated total lands well below those figures, remember the packages bundle transfers, guaranteed tee times and someone to fix problems on the ground — and note that every operator we checked excludes caddie tips, which is why we include them here by default.
Where the other numbers come from. Caddie fees and the customary tip follow the guidance published by the clubs themselves — Siam Country Club states gratuities "generally start at THB 500", while Black Mountain and Chiangmai Highlands publish caddie fees of ฿350–400 with a suggested tip from ฿400. Hotel rates are indicative national mid-points: Thailand's average daily rate across all categories ran at ฿1,819 through 2025 per the Krungsri Industry Outlook 2026–2028, but four-star city hotels sit well above that, and island resorts in December and January can double. Transfer costs reflect typical private hotel-to-course return rates of ฿1,400–2,900 depending on region. Club rental spans ฿1,500 at Black Mountain to ฿2,500 at Siam Country Club.

Yes — caddies are mandatory at virtually every course in Thailand. The caddie fee averages ฿370 per round and is charged separately from the green fee. A tip of ฿300–500 is customary and is not included in the fee, so budget for both.
Arranging it yourself is usually cheaper on paper, because operators add a margin. Packages win on convenience: they bundle transfers, guaranteed tee times at courses that are hard to book independently, and someone to fix problems on the ground. For a first trip, or a group of more than four, the package premium is often worth it.
May to October is low season, when green fees drop substantially and hotels are at their cheapest. The trade-off is heat and afternoon rain, though showers usually pass within an hour and morning rounds are rarely lost. November to February is peak season with the best weather and the highest prices.
No. Almost every course rents clubs, typically around ฿1,500 per round for a decent set. Bringing your own means paying sports-equipment fees on flights, so for a short trip with two or three rounds, renting is often the cheaper and simpler option.
