Eight is the number that breaks most golf trip plans. It is two flights of four, so tee times work — but it is also two hotel rooms too many for a villa, one minibus too few for comfort, and almost always a group where not everyone plays.

Two things to note. The non-golfers carry a share of the hotel but none of the golf, so the four players are paying nearer £850 each and the non-players nearer £370. Groups that split the bill evenly tend to fall out on day three, so agree it before you go.
And ฿2,500 is the Pattaya median. Play the cheap end — Treasure Hill at ฿1,400 (£32) — and the golf line halves. Play Siam CC - Old Course and it more than doubles.
A group of eight needs somewhere with enough courses inside an hour that you are not spending the holiday in a minibus, and enough going on that the non-golfers have a day of their own.

For eight people over two weeks, most groups do better splitting: seven nights in one base, seven in another, with a transfer day between. It costs a little more and stops the trip going stale.
Two flights of four. Eight golfers is two groups. Thai clubs almost always require a minimum of three per flight and cap at five, so eight books as 4+4 without argument. Ask for consecutive tee times rather than the same one.
Caddies are not optional. Every golfer gets one at nearly every Thai course. Budget ฿400 a round plus a tip of ฿300–500. A handful of clubs make it optional for long-stay guests — Sawang Resort Golf Club in Hua Hin is one — but assume you are paying.
Book carts for eight, not four. Carts are usually priced per cart, shared between two. Four carts for eight golfers, or two if only four play.
Transfers beat taxis. A minibus for eight to a course and back runs ฿1,200–1,800 depending on distance. Splitting into two taxis costs more and someone always arrives late.
