Golf Courses Near Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK)

All courses within easy reach of BKK airport.

Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is surrounded by some of Thailand's most accessible golf courses. Whether you have a few hours before departure or have just landed and want to play immediately, these courses are your best options.

The closest course — Suvarnabhumi Golf and Country Club — is literally adjacent to the airport perimeter. Several other well-regarded courses (Summit Windmill, Thana City) are within 15–20 minutes by car. Traffic permitting, you can realistically play 18 holes and be back at the terminal within 5–6 hours total.

Airport tip: Taxis from Suvarnabhumi to nearby courses typically cost ฿200–฿400. Agree on the metered fare or negotiate before departure.

How to book a round near Bangkok airport

There is no single booking desk for golf at Suvarnabhumi. In practice you have three routes, and which one you want depends on how much notice you have.

1. Direct with the club

Cheapest, and fine if you have a few days’ notice. The thing most visitors get wrong is the channel: Thai golf clubs run on LINE and telephone, not email. An email to a club’s general address can sit unread for a week; a LINE message to the pro shop is usually answered the same day. If a club lists a LINE ID, use it.

2. Through your hotel

If you are staying at one of the two hotels inside Summit Windmill — Hilton Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Golf Resort & Spa or the Summit Windmill Golf Suite Hotel — the concierge books the tee time and the shuttle together, which removes the two things most likely to go wrong on a stopover. Most four- and five-star Bangkok hotels will arrange golf transfers even if they have no course of their own.

3. Tell us your flight times and we’ll come back with options

Use the form further down this page. Give us your landing and departure times and we will come back with the courses that actually fit the gap, the green fee for your dates, and the transfer time from the terminal. It is free and there is no obligation.

What the club will ask you for

Have these ready and a booking takes one message rather than five:

  • Date and a tee-time window — not just “Tuesday morning”. Give an earliest and a latest.
  • Number of players. Thai courses normally group golfers three to a flight, and some will not accept a single or a pair at busy times. Summit Windmill is the notable exception near the airport — it pairs solo golfers into a flight where it can.
  • Buggy or walking. Some courses make a cart compulsory; it is a separate fee everywhere.
  • Rental clubs, and whether you are left- or right-handed. Left-handed sets are genuinely scarce and need reserving in advance.
  • Your hotel or pickup point, if you want a transfer arranged.

Costs to budget for beyond the green fee

The advertised green fee is never the total. A caddie is compulsory at effectively every course in Thailand — budget roughly ฿350–฿450 in fees plus a tip, which is customary and separate. A cart adds about ฿600–฿800. Weekend and public-holiday rates run substantially higher than midweek: at Summit Windmill the difference is ฿3,500 against ฿4,500, and that pattern holds across the Bangkok courses. If your dates are flexible at all, play midweek.

Taxis from the terminal to any course on this page typically run ฿200–฿400. Use the public taxi rank and ask for the meter, or book a Grab from the arrivals hall.

The one course you can genuinely play on a layover

Summit Windmill: 15–20 minutes away, floodlit, with two five-star hotels inside the club

Most “golf near the airport” lists stop at distance. The practical question is whether you can get there, play and get back without a hire car — and at Summit Windmill you can. Hilton Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Golf Resort & Spa and the Summit Windmill Golf Suite Hotel both sit inside the golf club and both run a complimentary airport shuttle. The club itself does not, so book one of those two if you want the transfer handled.

It is also the only floodlit championship course this close to the terminal. Nine holes of night golf costs ฿900 — roughly £20 — and solo travellers are paired into a flight where possible, which matters because Thai courses normally require three players.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not from a golf club directly, but two five-star hotels sit inside Summit Windmill Golf Club — Hilton Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Golf Resort & Spa and Summit Windmill Golf Suite Hotel — and both run a complimentary airport shuttle. Staying at either is the simplest way to play on a stopover without arranging your own transport.

Yes. Thai courses normally require three players per flight, but Summit Windmill accepts solo bookings and pairs single golfers into a group where possible. It is 15 to 20 minutes from the terminal and floodlit, so an evening nine is realistic even on a late arrival.

The courses on this page run from 1 km to 15 km from the terminal. Suvarnabhumi Golf and Country Club sits on the airport perimeter at 1 km; Thana City, Summit Windmill and The Royal are all about 6 km, or 15 to 20 minutes by car. Allow considerably longer in Bangkok rush hour than the distance suggests.

A hired car or GrabCar/taxi is the most practical way to reach Thai golf courses. Golf transfers can also be arranged through most hotels. Public transport does not serve golf courses reliably.

Three ways. Book direct with the club, using LINE or the telephone rather than email — Thai clubs answer LINE far faster. Book through your hotel, which is simplest if you are staying at one of the two hotels inside Summit Windmill, because they arrange the tee time and the airport shuttle together. Or send us your flight times using the form on this page and we will come back with the courses that fit your gap, the green fee for your dates and the transfer time from the terminal.

Typically ฿200–฿400 each way for any course on this page. Use the official public taxi rank and ask for the meter, or book a Grab from the arrivals hall.

For 18 holes, plan on five to six hours from terminal back to terminal: roughly 20 minutes each way in transfers, about four and a half hours for the round, and a margin for immigration and traffic. With less than five hours, play nine holes instead, or choose Suvarnabhumi Golf and Country Club at 1 km, or Unico Grande, which is a par 63 and much quicker to get round.

Yes. Suvarnabhumi has left-luggage counters in the terminal, charged per item per day — check the current rate on arrival. If you are staying at either hotel inside Summit Windmill they will hold your bags, which is usually easier on a stopover.

Usually. Thai courses normally group golfers three to a flight and some will not accept a single or a pair at busy times. Summit Windmill is the exception near the airport — it accepts solo bookings and pairs single golfers into a flight where it can, which is what makes it the practical choice for a layover round.

Every course on this list rents clubs. At Summit Windmill a set is ฿2,000–฿2,500 whether you play nine holes or 18. Reserve ahead rather than turning up and asking, and say if you are left-handed — left-handed sets are scarce and clubs hold very few.

Summit Windmill is the only fully floodlit championship course this close to the terminal, with nine holes under lights from ฿900. The last night tee-off is before 8pm Tuesday to Friday and before 7pm at weekends, and there is no night golf on Mondays. Green Valley is also reported to open for night golf — confirm when you book.

It depends which terminal you are flying through. Don Mueang (DMK) handles most low-cost and domestic flights and has its own cluster of courses north of the city — see our guide to golf courses near Don Mueang Airport. The two airports sit on opposite sides of Bangkok, so pick the cluster that matches your terminal rather than crossing the city.
