About Golf in Isaan

Isaan — Thailand's vast northeast region — is underserved by international golf tourism, but contains over 20 courses spread across provinces including Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), and the Mekong river towns. Most courses cater primarily to local Thai golfers, with green fees that reflect this: many rounds are available for under ฿1,000.

For international golfers, the most accessible entry point is Nakhon Ratchasima, reachable by express train or 2.5-hour drive from Bangkok. Mountain Creek Golf Resort near Khao Yai and Kirimaya Golf Resort are technically in the Korat region and are covered under the Khao Yai section above.

The dry season (November to April) generally offers the best conditions for golf in Isaan, with lower humidity and minimal rain. The shoulder months of October and May can also be excellent. Some courses offer lower green fees during the wetter summer months.

Most courses require a collared shirt and tailored shorts or trousers. Denim, sleeveless shirts, and cargo shorts are typically not permitted. Smart casual attire is the standard — when in doubt, err on the side of smarter.

Yes, international visitors are welcome at the vast majority of Isaan's golf courses. Some private clubs require introduction by a member, but most courses actively cater to overseas golfers.
