December is dry, comparatively cool and excellent for golf everywhere except Koh Samui. Prices climb through the month and the last two weeks are the most expensive of the year anywhere in Thailand. Play in the first fortnight and you get January weather at November prices.

Where not to go this month: Koh Samui. The gulf islands run on their own weather cycle and get their heaviest rain when the mainland is drying out.
Whatever the month, the same rules apply in Thailand: tee off early, drink more than you think you need, and take a cart unless you have a good reason not to. A caddie is compulsory at almost every course and will carry, read greens and keep you moving — budget ฿400 plus a tip.
In December specifically, conditions are about as good as Thailand gets, and the main constraint is availability rather than weather.
